This song is so beautiful and inspiring to me (yes, even though I wrote it). I just wrote the lyrics as they came out, without much thought (which I like to do sometimes). They came out so ethereal and interesting to me. While there is such an overwhelming theme of holding on to and fighting for love love throughout the record, and this is no exception, this song is also about letting go of love.
I think this was the last song we wrote for the record. I really love it's upbeat energy and positive vibe. The lyrics are meaningful to me in that it's got a similar theme to the rest of the record... all about going after the one you want, being brave enough to go for love or be in love, but at the same time, not being afraid to accept change and react accordingly. In this case, it's about still pursuing love.

Another really fun throwback song! I love the vibe and energy. This is another one I wrote during a relationship, about doing WHATEVER to get the one you love and having there be no sense in fighting your feelings. This song is pretty much about going after the one you want or love. Simple concept yes, but sometimes difficult to accomplish!

This is such a fun, throwback, motown-y love song! I think it turned out magnificently This song is about doing anything you can to prove your love, even though it may seem impossible. And even with all the intricacies that exist in relationships, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. This is also REALLY fun to play live.

This is my FAVORITE song to play live. I love the sort of hip-hop feel and cool synth-y patches. This song is about taking chances and moving forward even though it may mean risking everything. (Seems like an on going theme, yes?) These lyrics are really important to me because I wrote them at a place in my life of really needing to move forward and make some big decisions.

This song is such a happy accident! It was already so full of life and fun, with such a bouncy energy, I couldn't even wait to finish lyrics before I wanted people to hear it! This song to me is a joyful love song filled with.. well, love. I guess I must have been in a really good place in my life because its so full of sweetness. (Is it bad that I want to sing along even though I wrote it?)

This was one of my most memorable writing experiences with my co-writer/producer Jacques Brautbar and originally the song sounded VERY different than the version that is on the album. When we played it for Sam (my other collaborator), he just took it to the next level! Another really hopeful one, it's one of my favorites on the record. To me, it's sort of about understanding that there will be low times, but there's always a way out and always second chances. (I feel like I talk about second chances a lot throughout this album, but it's been a really big theme in my life as of late.)

This is one of those songs I wrote at like 2am in the middle of a sad movie (I can't even remember which movie it was) and was just feeling inspired (and sad), so I pulled out my acoustic and this song came out. There's definitely some personal truth to the lyrics, and this was written during a hard time in my past relationship. There's some hope though! It's kind of about moving forward and taking chances even though you've been hurt before.

"This is another one of those songs that I wrote in the late night/early morning hours where I was feeling sad/inspired/lonely and this song just came out of me pretty effortlessly. Even though it's a momentary feeling, I imagine many people go through times where they feel like nothing's ever going to get better. I think things do generally get better, so I don't take the lyrics too literally. I do know that sometimes it feels like they won't! Good thing those feelings don't last too long." - Jasmine
